Picanol celebrates historic milestone with production of 400,000th weaving machine in Ieper

We achieved a new milestone last week with the production of our 400,000th weaving machine in Ieper, Belgium. This is a new high point in our company's rich history of production, which started in Ieper. The very first Picanol weaving machine was produced in 1936, based on a design by Spanish engineer Jaimé Picañol, after whom the company was named. The 400,000th weaving machine, an OmniPlus-i Connect airjet weaving machine, leaves the home base in Ieper this week on its way to a customer in India.

In fact, Atlântica is one of the first customers in Brazil where the new generation TerryPlus-i Connect weaving machines with the SmartShed shedding motion have been installed. The benefits of the Picanol solutions for weaving high-quality terry with both airjet and rapier technology were explained to the more than 90 customers and prospects in attendance.

Installation of solar panels and charging places

Our society is changing rapidly, with sustainability and attention to our carbon and ecological footprint playing a central role. Investing in green energy and the greening of the vehicle fleet is obviously an important part of this change. As a company, we take responsibility in this area. Not only our machines are designed with sustainability as a baseline, but we also have a clear ambition to reduce drastically the impact of our operations on the environment, now and in the future.
