Trident

TridentGroup is a USD 1 billion Indian business conglomerate headquartered in Ludhiana (Punjab) India. Its flagship company Trident Limited (Trident), is a global player and one of the country's leading textile exporters. Indeed Trident is one of the world's biggest manufacturers of terry toweling and wheat straw-based paper. It is also one of the largest yarn spinners in India. Recently it launched a major expansion project for bed linen in partnership with Picanol. The group focuses on state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment, processes and systems, but human capital and credentials are also an essential part of the organization. Trident has been recognized on several occasions for its customer-centric approach and its commitment to high quality standards. Incorporated in 1990, the company continues to grow under the dynamic leadership of the chairman Mr. Rajinder Gupta, a first-generation entrepreneur. From a modest beginning of 17,280 spindles the group has continuously expanded to become a proud exporter to over 75 countries and is now emerging as one of the largest integrated home textile manufacturers in the world.

Some key facts about Trident:

  • Business interests in textiles and paper
  • World's largest manufacturer of terry towels
  • World’s largest manufacturer of wheat straw-based paper
  • One of the largest yarn manufacturers in India
  • One of the fastest-growing companies in the country with a CAGR of around 30%.

To continue along this growth path, TridentGroup set itself the ambitious objective of having the largest sheeting project under one roof, with no fewer than 500 large-width airjet weaving machines. The new facility is located in Budhni, near Bhopal in Madya Pradesh, India. Selecting the lead supplier for a project of this size required an in-depth study by the Trident project team. Picanol is very proud to announce that at the end of 2014 TridentGroup chose Picanol as a partner for its project. The decision was based partly on feedback from customers concerning the superior performance of the OMNIplus Summum and the technological leadership of the Picanol machines, but equally important was the evaluation of Picanol's service level in broader terms.

Picanol India is a fully owned subsidiary employing more than 40 people with a sales and service network covering the entire country including Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmadabad, Bhilwara, Surat, Kolhapur, Coimbatore and various other cities. The state-of-the-art PCB repair station at its Delhi headquarters has been upgraded to repair the new-generation Summum machines and is now the main facility for the Indian market. With nearly 19,000 Picanol weaving machines running in India, Picanol was clearly well placed for Trident to make this historic decision. The commitment of the Picanol management to continuous improvement and growth for its customers was also considered to be very important. This was further highlighted during visits to the Picanol headquarters in Ieper, where Trident could witness the continuing investment in production and training facilities and the R&D activities. Construction of the weaving plant has been finished and delivery of the first weaving machines began in May 2015. This flagship project clearly demonstrates Trident's commitment to leadership, as well as Picanol's commitment to the growth and development of its customers.
