Tessitura Serica A.M. Taborelli

"The imagination of our designers has no limits. That’s why we needed technology that can cope with this talent. Thanks to their flexibility and modularity, Picanol weaving machines can handle the most versatile fabrics without compromising on pattern complexity or efficiency."

Creativity is more than an ambition at Taborelli, it is the basis on which the company operates. It is this creativity that has made the company what it is now: a leader in production of women’s clothing and tie fabrics. The company goes back to 1896 when Tessitura Serica A.M. Taborelli s.r.l. was founded as a manufacturer of umbrella fabrics. Later Taborelli shifted to ladies’ wear and in 1994 also tie fabrics. Production is constantly being modernized and the company now has manufacturing plants in Fallopio, Gaggino, Paré, Gironico and Lucino, all in the Como area of Italy. In 2003 Taborelli set up its first production plant outside Italy, in Romania.

The Taborelli approach is simple yet very efficient. The company sells mainly to a network of textile converters in Italy and abroad, not to wholesalers or apparel manufacturers. In close collaboration with these customers its style designers develop new ideas for exclusive fabrics, paving the way for the fashion trends of the next seasons. These fabrics are then produced in the various Taborelli weave sheds. The company uses mainly filament warps, both natural and artificial, in combination with a large number of possible wefts ranging from acetate, cotton, silk or nylon to Lurex, steel, bouclette, cashmere, flax etc. Tie fabrics are mainly silk. With the ever increasing complexity of new designs the company decided in 2005 to go for Picanol GamMax rapier machines, enabling it to guarantee timely delivery and superior quality for the more difficult styles. In 2007 Taborelli installed its first OptiMax machines, followed by repeat orders in 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015. At the moment we are weaving on 300 machines of which 150 OptiMax, both in dobby and Jacquard execution.
