Adding a fancy beam increases the capacity of the ground beam, but it also enables you to use additional (fancy) yarns in the warp or create fancy designs, such as pleated fabrics, seersucker, etc. Alternatively, designs can be used with a different yarn consumption: ground versus fancy.
